Transgender Awareness Week

Transgender Awareness Week runs from November 13th – November 19th 2024, which is within Transgender Awareness Month and concludes the day before Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th. At Manchester Metropolitan we aim for our student community to feel safe and inclusive, and we want to celebrate identities.

As part of this awareness week, we will be holding a stand in the Business School on 18th November 11am – 2pm. Members of our student community will have resources on support available internally and externally to the University.

On 20th November the SU is holding a panel discussing trans experiences and celebrating trans voices.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence

25th November - 10th December 2024 sees the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence - you can read more about this here. Please note: whilst the international campaign focuses on violence against women and girls, we recognise that gender-based violence is experienced by all marginalised genders, including trans and non-binary individuals, therefore the events we are running during this time are open to all genders, allies included.

Our regular Sexual Violence Drop-In will take place on 26th November 12:00 - 14:00.

A Domestic Abuse Drop-In is being held on the Ground Floor of the Business School on 28th November 10am - 14:00 with staff from Manchester Women's Aid and Greater Manchester Police present to offer information to students and staff on the topic of domestic/relationship abuse.

On the 2nd December 2pm - 4.30pm a Craftivism Event will be taking place in the Wellbeing Room in the Business School - more information and free tickets can be accessed here.

Events including readings, open mic, and panel discussions are also taking place during this time at the Poetry Library, more information can be found here.
